Dirtdog - Boomerang

'Dirtdog' is a deeply personal project. I wanted to encapsulate what it was for me that made the TV cartoons of my youth so endearing. My favourite was 'Wacky Races'. I realised that the cartoon was constructed in a way very much of the time... Very bold bright colours, repetitious backgrounds and simple cell painting with uncomplex perspectives and character angles. I wanted 'Dirtdog' to have human failings and traits and above all to be untrustworthy and mercenary. Dumb and clever at the same time. As such, some 'Dirtdog' episodes contain violence, bad language and carnage.... I also wanted a very short format of four panels to try and distill ideas and movement quickly. Each 'Dirtdog' is first done as a storyboard, then pencilled, then inked, then scanned and coloured. As of now only ten episodes exist. The ink originals of Dirtdog (except Dirtdog - Lighter) can be bought for £50 each. Two ink originals were never coloured and remain unseen. I will give these free to anyone who purchases two or more originals. Please be aware that the originals are black and white only and A4 Landscape.
